InstantAISupport Customer Chat Assistant adds a chat bubble to your WordPress site. Visitors ask a question, and the assistant answers from the documents you have uploaded to your InstantAISupport account: your FAQs, policies, price lists, product catalogues or service descriptions.

The assistant answers only from the content you provide. When the answer is not in your documents, it says so and directs the visitor to your team, rather than inventing a price or a delivery date.

This plugin is a client for the InstantAISupport service. An account on instantaisupport.com is required; see the External services section below.

External services

This plugin connects to the InstantAISupport service, operated by InstantAISupport (instantaisupport.com), to provide the chat assistant. The plugin does not work without it.

What the service does

It hosts the chat widget script and generates answers to visitor questions, based on the documents you upload to your InstantAISupport account.

What is sent, and when

1. On every front-end page view where a Data Key is configured, the visitor’s browser loads the widget script from https://instantaisupport.com/widget.js. As with any externally hosted script, this request includes the visitor’s IP address, browser user agent, and the address of the page loading the script.

2. When a visitor opens the chat and sends a message, their browser sends the following to the InstantAISupport API:

   • the message text the visitor typed;
   • a randomly generated session identifier, issued by the service and stored in the visitor’s browser so the conversation continues across page loads;
   • the Data Key configured in the plugin settings, which identifies your account;
   • the address of the site the message was sent from.

No data is sent when a visitor does not open the chat, beyond the script request described in point 1. The plugin does not send WordPress user accounts, order data, post content or any other site data to the service.
